Astonishingly, 34 of 42 traffic signals in Port Richey and New Port Richey have less than a 4.50 second yellow light display, all with a posted speed limit of 45 miles per hour. How could it be possible that the New Port Richey City Council members, Port Richey City officials and the American Traffic Solutions Inc. (ATS) which installed and maintains the cameras did not know that these traffic signals were set below 4.50seconds?

According to the Florida Department of Transportation, the minimum standard duration of a yellow traffic signal with a posted speed limit of 45 miles per hour is 4.5 seconds.
It would be somewhat understandable if one or two ATF cameras were not calibrated properly, but 34 traffic signals? To me, this is an outrageous abuse of what the camera are put in place for, which is to stop red light traffic violators. I believe that the cameras are a deterrent, but not if the rules are unjust, and in place as nothing but a trap. At this point all of these cameras are put in place to generate money for the State, City and ATS, not to save lives!

Rep. John Fleming (R-LA) which appeared on MSNBC with Chris Jansing this morning to attack President Obama’s new deficit reduction plan, which includes some tax increases on the wealthy.
Taking up the typical GOP talking point, According to Fleming, raising taxes on wealthy “job creators” is a terrible idea that kills jobs because many of these people are small business owners who pay taxes through personal income rates.
According to Fleming, a businesses owner, so Jansing asked, “If you have to pay more in taxes, you would get rid of some of those employees?”
Fleming responded by saying that while his businesses made $6.3 million last year, after you “pay 500 employees, you pay rent, you pay equipment, and food,” his profits “a mere fraction of that” — “by the time I feed my family, I have maybe $400,000 left over.”

– Middle-income jobs are disappearing from the economy. The share of middle-income jobs in the United States has fallen from 52% in 1980 to 42% in 2010.
– Middle-income jobs have been replaced by low-income jobs, which now make up 41% of total employment.
– 17 million Americans with college degrees are doing jobs that require less than the skill levels associated with a bachelor’s degree.
– Over the past year, nominal wages grew only 1.7% while all consumer prices, including food and energy, increased by 2.7%.
